Differences between articulated and scissor platforms

Articulated boom and scissor lift platforms are used to access high heights. Although both lifting platforms serve the same general purpose, they have some essential differences.

Here are some of the main differences between articulated and scissor platforms:

Design: Articulated lifting platforms have arms that extend vertically and horizontally and rotate laterally, allowing greater reach and the ability to move in wide spaces. On the other hand, scissor lift platforms have a basket that moves vertically, supported by a system of scissor-shaped arms.

Height: Articulated lifting platforms usually have more reach than scissor lift platforms because they can extend vertically and horizontally. On the other hand, scissor lifts are more suitable for medium heights, just in vertical reach.

Mobility: Articulated lifting platforms have a greater capacity for movement in wide spaces and uneven terrain. Scissor lift platforms are more stable on flat terrain and more maneuverable in tight spaces.
Load capacity: Scissor lift platforms typically have a higher load capacity than articulated lifting platforms. This is because scissors lifting is designed to support more weight due to their scissor structure.

Usage: Articulated lifting platforms are best suited for indoor and outdoor maintenance and construction work, while scissor lift platforms are best suited for indoor work with a more extraordinary ability to lift big objects.

The choice between an articulated lifting platform and a scissor lifting platform will depend on the height they need to reach, the necessary load capacity, the terrain and the mobility required to perform the job safely and efficiently.
